The dietary approach we use in the HEALcare® program is quite simple. We teach you to consume protein with each meal or feeding. It is typically a moderate amount to control hunger. The types of carbohydrates you are permitted to eat, and in what amounts, are specifically outlined in the HEALcare For Life Handbook we supply to our medical patients and weight loss participants. The goal is for you to eat no more than 20 grams of total carbs daily.
We encourage consuming the natural fats that come with your foods. There is no need for you to trim fat, nor to eat skinless chicken. Other sources of healthy fats — butter, coconut oil, olive oil, peanut oil, and so on — are encouraged for cooking and dressing salads and other vegetables. Fat not only contributes to satiety – the feeling of contentment after eating – but also it is an essential nutrient along with amino acids, which are the components of protein.
Eat when hungry. Eat enough to be satisfied rather than stuffed.
Granted, many people like using mobile phone or computer apps to keep close track of what they are doing. These technologies are not necessary to be successful with HEALcare’s way of eating. It’s designed to be simple to follow.
